Grand Slam #2
He did it again!! Lastnight Michael hit his 2nd homerun grand slam!!!
Needless to say we are 2 proud parents and one proud brother! Everyone was there to witness it this time: Mom, Dad, Leon, Dean, Hunter, Granny Granny and most of all a VERY Proud Father that was beside himself!! Mom & Dad had asked for an instant replay of Michael's Saturday game and darn if he didn't come thru. It was picture perfect as the ball hit the bat and sailed over the center field fence. I didn't think the 2nd time around would be as emotional as the 2nd but it was. Who would have thought? Back to back games, back to back grand slams!
Go Michael!!

GRAND SLAM HOME RUN
Well, Michael finally did it. He did it with style too! Michael hit his first out of the park homerun this Saturday and it was a GRANDSLAM. It was so exciting. I have lost my voice from hollaring. I had tears in my eyes. Other than the normal fans, Granny Granny, myself and Hunter were our only family witnesses. Mom and Dad had left as they had plans with Dad's sister and her family, Dean & Leon were working on their awesome new deck and David was at work. Cindi, David's cousin also got to witness the memorable moment! We are all still on cloud nine but our pockets are lighter with the hefty payouts. I had promised Michael years ago that I would give him $50 for his first out of the park homer. Dad, promised him $100. Not a bad day for a 12 year old to hit a baseball!
On another note, Hunter got an in the park homer. That started our exciting day. Now the bet moves on to Hunter for his first out of the park homer. I will be anxious to see if he gets it quicker than Michael........
Gosh, there is no better place to be than at a ball field watching my guys play! "I'm gonna miss these days....................."

Another ER Visit
Oh, you know it's bad when you walk into the ER and you are greated with "which one is it this time, Christy". Now that means you are a frequent flyer of the ER. Oh my goodness! I just laughed and said, it's Hunter this time. Most were relieved that it wasn't Michael as they know he is a complex case! LOL.... yep, Hunter decided to throw a piece of glass at his Granny's and cut the tip of his right middle finger open. Yep, his pitching and throwing hand. How on earth was I going to tell David this???? Especially since he was 24 hours away from a baseball game. I debated for over an hour whether to take him to the ER but after my nurse friend cleaned and examined it she recommended we head on it. So with that being said we did.
2 hours later we were getting glued up and heading home. And by the way, I now have a supply of steri strips and glue!!! I am a walking first aid kit with a few surgical supplies. Thank goodness for accident insurance and that little duck! A-F-L-A-C
Hunter's initial glueing at the ER lasted 24 hours and our friend reglued it, steri stipped it, bandaided it and we were playing ball. That lasted most of the weekend and now we are soaking it nightly and applying steri strips during the day to protect it from "school germs". It's looking better, but lik with all things around the Watts' injuries, nothings easy. These boys are tough to bring down. They are like the energizer bunny rabbit, they just keep going and going. I hope this will be the end of our ER visits for a while. It happens in 3's so that was our 3 trip in 4 months!!!! Feel free to contribute to the Watts' boys Medical Fund!

The Burn
I know it's yucky! But it wouldn't be us if we didn't share all the yucky stuff! Michael actually has "honda" burned into his arm. It looks much better now a days. It is healing nicely and we apply this great CVS brand cream for scars. We still keep it protected during baseball games with a long sleeve shirt, but for the most part it's 100% healed.Wednesday, May 14, 2008
May 1st Duke Visit
David, Michael & I headed to Duke on the first for our one month follow up appointment. We discussed a few things and decided that we were going to wait 5-6 months and see what happens. We check his counts every 2 weeks and send them to Duke. Sometimes I check them more frequently just to make sure they don't get lower. I do this because I can and peace of mind since he is in full swing with the baseball season.
Right now, Football is not looking too great for our fall sport, so we may turn to Golf. We will wait and see what Michael's decision is on that one. He is not happy about giving up football. His doctor at Duke would like him to become an expert in Chess, but Michael's not going there.
So, we wait and pray!
