Vacationing at the OBX
Hunter's Big CatchNow that's vacationing
This year we went to one of our favorite vacationing spots.. the Outer Banks. The weather was great! Although, I would be the only one to say that. My family would beg to differ. We were there during the hottest week of the year. 95 + degrees all week! A beach sunners dream! As I grabbed my chair & bag each morning after breakfast, I camped on the beach sitting at waters edge soaking up the rays! I just love sitting on the beach and taking it all in. The boys joined me occationally to play in the sand and boogie board, but like their dad, they couldn't take the heat. So they usually lasted about an hour and back to the camper & AC they went. I relaxed and enjoyed the ocean sounds.
Monday night we rode over the Ocrakoke and enjoyed a meal at the Jolly Rogers. Just a local hang out with a great atmosphere by the bay. Some friends of ours went with us, too.
Tuesday we went deep sea fishing. It was great! We had the same captain and mate as last year. My first 1/2 day trip was last year and I just loved it. Hunter's first experience was this year. He had the biggest catch and boy did it tire him out as seen above. He litterally sat down and went to sleep!
After getting back to the camp ground, our friends had our dinner prepared. Uncle John joined us too! He lives in Manteo which isn't too far. We always look forward to seeing him. Anyway we had fresh shrimp, scallops, corn on the cob & potatoes that were to die for. All cooked on the grill to pure perfection! Hats off to the chef's.
As usual, no vacation is complete with out a boo boo or too. Usually Hunter. Once again, he won the award for biggest boo boo. After telling him over and over to wear shoes when navigating his bike, he snuck away without a foot inspection. yep.... heard him screaming from far away. As he came to the camper and his injury examined.. it was truely a boo boo. He had some how and only Hunter could do, caught his toe in the spokes of his bike and torn off his toe nail and the top of his toe. Fortunatly, no "real" medical attention was needed but it was surely a nasty boo boo. We bandaged him all up and to sleep he went.
